2021 HUMANITARIAN AWARDS

On Friday, May 21, 2021, we will celebrate our mission with our biannual Humanitarian Award Event. Originally, we had scheduled this event last year with plans to honor Beth and Bruce White for all they have done for our mission, but delayed it given the start of the pandemic. The Whites’ have graciously asked us to bestow the Humanitarian Award on the hundreds of teachers, principals and staff who have been the true heroes of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

They have worked tirelessly to ensure our students – 80 percent minority and nearly 70 percent living in low-income households – receive the education they deserve. The success of these heroic teachers and leaders are seen in the outcomes of the students with 96 percent graduating high school, 86 percent enrolling in college the year following graduation, and alumni having jobs and giving back at twice the national average. These positive long-term outcomes for students and communities must not be deterred or denied because of COVID-19.
