After School Matters
Gala 2020 Cancelled: Our Teens Needs are Not
In alignment with the CDC and Chicago public health guidelines, After School Matters has decided to cancel this year’s Gala in September and look forward to seeing you all for our 30th Anniversary Gala in 2021.
For almost 30 years, the After School Matters Gala has taken place annually to celebrate our teens and support all the inspiring work they create year round to build a brighter future for Chicago. Canceling this year’s Gala does not cancel the need for After School Matters’ ongoing support of Chicago’s teens. This pandemic has exposed that our teens and their families need us now more than ever. We hope you will stand with us at this critical time and consider a donation in support of our young people.
After School Matters is on the frontlines of supporting Chicago teens and their communities. We know all too well the city’s problems often fall hardest on our young people and communities of color. The current challenges brought on by the COVID-19 health pandemic are no different. As the largest after school and summer program provider for Chicago teens, serving 19,000 each year in every zip code of the city, After School Matters is seeing and feeling this impact firsthand, pivoting to not only provide virtual programs to teens but also food and technology to those hardest hit.
Thank you for believing in our teens and our work. We are all stronger together and together we will get through this. #ASMTogether
