The constellations you see in the night sky are a perfect collaboration between human minds and the universe. Their names and stories have been written and passed down for thousands of years, from one generation of stargazers to the next. They carry pieces of world history, culture, and imagination, and every star that makes up a constellation has its own past, present, and future—one we can discover with the scientific tools of observation and deduction.
The Adler Planetarium is a different kind of constellation. It is a collaborative endeavor—nearly a century old—to connect people to the universe and each other. The stars that make up the Adler and its story are the people in our community: our neighbors in Chicago, our friends around the world, and the staff and volunteers who make our museum every day. Each member of our community brings their own history, interests, skills, and experiences to the Adler.
It's bigger than any one of us, but takes each of us. The shape of our future depends on you. Join us!

About Adler Planetarium
The Adler Planetarium connects people to the universe and each other. Whether it is introducing a guest to the Ring Nebula, a neighborhood school to a community partner, a research team to a network of citizen scientists, or one staff member to another, the Adler’s focus on meaningful connections dates back nearly a century. The museum typically hosts more than half a million visitors each year and reaches millions more through youth STEAM programs, neighborhood skywatching events, people-powered research, and other outreach efforts. Today, the Adler is bringing our unique approach—scientific exploration rooted in community and connection—to guests from around the world who can enjoy the digital Adler from their own homes, libraries, schools or offices. With the Adler’s support, people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities gain the confidence to explore their universe together and return to their communities ready to think critically and creatively about any challenge that comes their way.
